From the Clavichord to the Modern Piano - Part 1 of 2
I like how the sound becomes gradually more updated as time passes.
As a guitar player… I learned so much useful history and things from this video, no wonder we play many harpsichord pieces on classical guitar now 🫡
Thank you for such an interesting education on these instruments.
Ya know, if the harpsichord had more deeper notes, it would be a pretty good bass.
I want to know what Mozart would think about how his music sounds on a modern Piano
Excellent video, much appreciated!
He does a good job except at 7:24 he explains that the pianoforte has 58 "notes" and the modern piano has 88 "notes." Those are "keys," not notes. Notes are what are on the page of a score. At least I think that's the way it goes.
yes yes yes
Excuse me, weren't they drawing the villain from the game "Monopoly" from you?
it's been 14 years, I watch this when I was a little tot, don't ask me what kind of stuff I watched as a bébé
this man is epic
So interesting
Thank you
Very useful and interesting. Thank you! 🙂
Love this!

This video has answered my questions about how keyboard instruments evolved over the centuries. Before UA-cam, I had no idea where to look. This, my friends is the value of YT. To learn. I am 84 yrs. old...never stop learning!
Why did we move on from ðe older pianos? Ðey sounded way better!
Thanks for this video, it helps.

No handmade Violin is the same, they all have their own unique character because even the wood used uses different parts, from different trees, and different types For each violin. (I know its not relatable with the Topic)

Can clavichord or harpscihords have weightened keys ? or are they unweightened like organs ?
If it isnt Baroque...
Don't fix it !❤LoL
I wish I was half as cool as this dude. I'd be SLAYING with that musical knowledge
After the first fortepiano of Cristofori, J.S.Bach was very involved with its German improved version Pianofort of Silbermann. He contributed to its improvement, avidly advertised it in public concerts and sold, leaving available today signed by his hand sales receipt - the written evidence that had been deliberately left under publicized, just like in this video… What’s the reason behind such important fact, being distorted? How strange that the key transition from plucking to hammer clavier had not been merely mentioned in this historical overview of piano evolution. But, they launched the new chapter in music history…
im sorry if you push a modern piano off the stage it will IMPLODE???
Someone should have informed this *apparently* well-intentioned fellow that his sexist “aphorism” about “less than svelte ladies” needing to wear “slimming black” APPLIES TO MORONIC MEN as much as or more than it applies to women…
This man might have the most incredible mustache I've ever seen. Excellent presentation
Your otherwise superb brief synopsis of the evolution of the piano as an instrument would have been considerably more beautifully effective had you played the Mozart sonata *immediately* at the end of Part II and with the same sonata played instantly at the beginning of Part III, as your acoustic and visual learners would have had a far easier time discerning the differences between pianoforte and Steinway modern grand all the more readily. You’re clearly an effective teacher, perfectly explaining the contrasts with historical contexts and why these resonant shifts are so important.
Funny how synthesizers went back to the size of early clavichord
This man can play these like a pro…
2.3 and the mustache
I'm viennese and my favorite is the harpsichord. I just love the sound of this instrument the most. The modern piano sounds too "pretty/romantic" for my taste. The fortepiano is somwhere in the middle between those two.
Excellent vids on the four keyboards! Please do make more of these!!!
If they had gone all the way back to the clavichord and harpsichord and hadn’t saturated the airwaves with sappy singer songwriter music I think rap wouldn’t have become so popular.
Ya lo se
BaroqueBand Actually they now make 108 Key Pianos, those have a 9 Octave Range which matches that of an Organ.
Скажите пожалуйста, как называется композиция, которая стоит на заставке
Mozart sounds so much better on a vienneese style piano 😅 I want one now 🤣🤣
Delightful, comprehensive, informative and educational from someone who knows his stuff. Thank you.
Delightful, comprehensive, informative and educational from someone who knows his stuff. Thank you. Where could we get this before YT? We couldn't. 🙂
Great info. Thank you
2:45 who like clavichord here ❤👇❤ And it remembers our childhood memories oh sweet 1600 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Essa apresentação é excelente, é bem interessante a História do teclados até o piano moderno.
